Parking at Mam Tor, Derbyshire

Mam Tor is one of the most visited places in the Peak District, offering fantastic views over the town of Castleton, Winnats Pass and over to Kinder Scout.

About Mam Tor

Mam Tor itself is reasonably accessible, with a guided path once you reach the summit. If you are walking from Castleton, you can expect a steep walk up the grassy hill, but it is well away from the edge so safe for children and dogs too.

The walk up from Speedwell Cavern doesn’t take too long, meaning you can take in the views down over Winnats Pass before reaching some flat terrain before another incline to reach the top of Mam Tor.

The walk down is slightly longer, bringing you back down into Castleton (or Hope) depending on the route you are taking.
